“You are the salt of the earth…you are the light of the world… Let your light shine before others,
that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Email to discuss or to arrange a workshop

Workshop Goals

"Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. Do this with gentleness and respect." 1 Peter 3:15

To give pastors hands-on materials to equip their lay people to share their faith stories.

To give lay people motivation, understanding, and practical tools to be successful in sharing their faith stories.

To experience the Holy Spirit bringing massive numbers of people to Jesus over the coming years.

Our hope is that saltnlight will serve to encourage and equip us to a journey of living as salt and light in the name of Jesus Christ, having a missional mindset which sees God's mission as the basis for all that we do.

Going Deep -- Going out
(more info, including schedule)

Once again the RCA is partnering with Calvin Theological Seminary, Christian Reformed Home Missions, and Journey (at Western Seminary) to host a fall discipleship and small group conference.  Our goal is to catalyze local conversations and strategies for missional discipleship throughout our denomination.

untamed

This year’s conference is called Going Deep Going Out with Alan and Debra Hirsch as keynote speakers.  The event will be hosted at South Harbor Church in Grand Rapids, MI on November 4 & 5, 2011.  It will also be available via simulcast and podcast throughout North America.  This approach gives opportunities for learning and conversation to happen in every region.

Here’s how you can be involved:

Option 1 – Encourage people to attend the conference in Grand Rapids.  Save-the-date cards will be available in late June.  We will also have electronic communication and registration.

Option 2 – Encourage local conversations about missional discipleship through learning communities.

What is a learning community?  Since people learn best in community, over time and within their context of ministry, we are inviting key influencers to put together learning communities of six to eight people to meet together to read, study and discuss how to activate or reactivate missional discipleship within their own context. The learning communities could be made up of cluster members, peer learning or coaching groups, church staff and volunteers, or church councils and local leadership.

 Each learning community will:

·         Read Untamed.
·         Meet for three times before the November event and two times following to discuss the book and explore how discipleship is happening in their region.
·         Be present for the event in Grand Rapids or participate in the event by simulcast.
·         Be able to host the event for a larger audience for a lower price.
·         Share insights, best practices and missional engagement with the church as a whole.
·         Receive sermon ideas and small group materials to use in your congregations for further conversation and application.
·         Learning community leaders will be given a copy of Untamed and paid $100.00 for initiating and managing the group.  The RCA Discipleship team is paying each community leader from the RCA.  In the CRC, each region will determine how the  community leader will be compensated.

Option 3 – Encourage a cluster or local congregation to host a local conference utilizing the simulcast or podcast feed.

Simulcast:  All of the keynotes by Alan and Debra Hirsch will be available live.  Last year, regional groups used the simulcast feed for keynotes addresses and recruited local speakers for breakouts.

Podcast:  The keynotes will remain available for four weeks following the event.  They may be downloaded and used at your convenience.

Going Deep Going Out conference prices and schedule are listed on the back of this letter.   I look forward to hearing how you want to be involved in this year’s fall discipleship and small group conference.
